Amendment 3 - Council Member Terms

Shall the Town of Otter Creek Charter be amended to allow four-year terms for council members beginning in 2027? If adopted, seats 1, 3, and 5 would begin in 2027 for four-year terms. Seats 2 and 4 would be elected in 2027 for two-year terms. In 2029, seats 2 and 4 would be elected to four-year terms to align the cycle. If the Charter is amended to elect a Mayor, the Mayor and seats 1 and 3 would be elected in 2027 for four-year terms. Seats 2 and 4 would be elected in 2027 for two-year terms, then in 2029, for four-year terms to align the cycle and not require reelection until 2031; seats 2 and 4 would be up for election in 2029 for a term ending in 2033. Financial Impact Statement: Elections would occur every two years instead of annually saving the Town of Otter Creek election costs.
