The Phillips County Road Funds need additional revenue to maintain the current county services due to a reduction in the amount received by the county in gas severance tax. The mill levy of approximately 20 mills to raise $242,840 annually and will allow for inflationary growth and new taxable growth. Shall the county governing body be authorized to make a levy in additional to the regular levy now authorized by law of up to $242,840 in county road taxes each year, approximately 20 mills, for the purpose of maintaining the Phillips COunty Road Funds, permanently? Pursuant to Section 15-10-425 (3) Montana Code Annotated, the impact on a home valued at $100,000 would be an additional $15.20 per year in taxes, the impact on a home valued at $300,000 would be an additional $45.60 per year in taxes, and the impact on a home valued at $600,000 would be an additional $104.40. An increase in property taxes may lead to an increase in rental costs. The mill levy of approximately 20 mills to raise $242,840 annually will be subject to Section 15-10-420(1)(a) after the first year allowing for inflationary growth and newly taxable growth.
