Question 2 - Parks Millage Renewal

This proposal will permit the County of Charlevoix to restore the.15 mill, previously approved by the electors for the purpose of providing funds for the operation of County Parks and funding the county program to improve other parks within the County. Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Charlevoix County of 0.15 mills ($0.15 per $1000 of taxable value), reduced to 0.1454 mills ($0.1454 per $1000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at up to 0.15 mills ($0.15 per $1000 of taxable value ) and levied for a period of four (4) years, 2026 through 2029, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the operation and capital improvements of the county's parks and for funding the county program to improve other parks within the county? If approved and levied in its entirety, it is estimated that the.15 mills would raise an estimated $500,169 for the County in the first year of collection.
