Get StartedShall a special one percent sales and use tax for educational purposes be continued in the special district of Haralson County for a period of time not to exceed 20 calendar quarters and for the raising of an estimated amount of $52,000,000, to be distributed between the Haralson County School District and the City of Bremen School District for the purpose of funding the following projects (i) for the Haralson County School District: (1) equipping all existing school kitchens with HVAC; (2) acquiring land for, making additions to, and renovating and equipping existing schools, support facilities and athletic facilities, restroom renovations, flooring, parking lot restoration, HVAC replacement, and renovations and equipment associated with school security; (3) technology improvements, including, but not limited to, the acquisition and installation of instruction technology, security, and information systems hardware and associated software and accessories, and infrastructure at all schools and selected other facilities; (4) making existing lease/purchase payments for the acquisition of buses; (5) purchasing and refurbishing buses, a bus wash facility and other transportation equipment; and (6) replacing, purchasing, upgrading or supplementing capital equipment including, but not limited to, desks, chairs, copiers, tables, security equipment, band instruments, playground equipment, nutrition equipment, and laboratory equipment (collectively, the Haralson Projects), at a cost of approximately $31,059,600; and (ii) for the City of Bremen School District: (1) architectural design and site work for preparation of future construction at Jones Elementary School; (2) adding to, constructing, remodeling, renovating, modifying, furnishing, or equipping school buildings, classrooms, instructional and support space, or other facilities (including physical education/athletic facilities) at existing school district facilities, including, but not limited, installing new HVAC equipment for elementary gyms and the middle school/academy gym, and parking lot repairs; (3) acquisition of transportation equipment, vehicles, or buses; (4) acquisition of real and personal property, including, but not limited to, technology and safety upgrades, playground equipment, band/music equipment, or athletic safety equipment; or (5) any combination of the aforementioned purposes (the Brement Projects); and retiring outstanding general obligation debt of the City of Bremen School District previously incurred and issued with respect to capital outlay projects in the maximum principal and interest amount of $7,000,000, comprised of a portion of the City of Bremen School District's Series 2015 Bonds or Series 2021 Bonds, or both, coming due in any of the years 2027 through 2033, at a combined cost of approximately $20,940,400? If continuation of the tax is approved by the voters, such vote shall also constitute approval of the issuance of general obligation debt of the Haralson County School District in a principal amount not to exceed $8,000,000 for the purpose of funding all or a portion of the Haralson Projects.
