Get StartedShall a special one percent sales and use tax be imposed in the special district of Whitfield County for a period of time of twenty-four calendar quarters (6 years) and for the raising of an estimated amount of $100,000,000 for the following purposes, pursuant to an Intergovernmental Contract, dated November 12, 2018, among Whitfield County, Georgia, the City of Dalton, the City of Tunnel Hill, the City of Varnell and the Town of Cohutta: (A) funding the following capital outlay projects for Whitfield County: (1) Extensive renovations primarily to the older portion of the Courthouse campus, renovations to the Jail facility, and demolition of Administrative Buildings 1 and 2 and construction of new administration facilities, including renovation of Gillespie Drive gymnasium for accountability court use, (2) Acquisition payments for Fire Station 12; capital renovations to fire stations, fire department vehicles; Sheriff vehicles, (3) Animal control capital projects, (4) Library Capital Improvements, Building and Technology, (5) County road construction projects, bridge and culvert repair and construction; general road paving, and (6) Design and Construction of southside park infrastructure, community center; renovations at Edwards Park, including lighting, sewer improvements; miscellaneous enhancements and equipment; Grant Farm improvements; and design and construction of Westside park athletic fields and community center; (B) funding the following capital outlay projects for the City of Dalton: (1) Airport T-Hangar Facility, (2) Police vehicles; police equipment, Property and Evidence building/lab; fire engines and aerial apparatus for fire department, (3) Renovations to John Davis Recreation Center, renovations to Heritage Park; Haig Mill trail connection, (4) Renovations to Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center and vehicle purchase, and (5) Streets, Bridges and Stormwater Projects; (C) funding the following capital outlay projects for the City of Tunnel Hill: (1) Sidewalks; Sewer Improvements and expansion, and (2) Police Vehicles; (D) funding the following capital outlay projects for the City of Varnell: (1) Parks and Recreation Capital Improvements, (2) Sanitation; Sanitation Truck, (3) Public Safety Capital and Equipment, (4) Pay Off Capitalization Sanitation Truck, and (5) Solid Waste Sewer Improvements; and (E) funding the following capital outlay projects for the Town of Cohutta: (1) Public Safety Equipment and (2) Park Improvements, City Hall renovations; Equipment, Right of Way Improvements, Storage Buildings?
