Get StartedI am a big advocate of community policing as it builds rapport and comradery between the citizens and the men and women sworn to protect them. If elected, I would capitalize on additional opportunities to build that relationship by expanding community policing programs (bike rodeos, National Night Out, etc.) and having the police department work directly with the neighborhoods to establish official neighborhood watch programs. I support structuring a municipal fire department that has full-time commanded employees who are supplemented by the same, currently serving volunteers. Learn more
Perhaps it's my Midwest upbringing but one thing I noticed missing from many of the communities around here is a lack of a "main street". Outside of the town government, Holly Ridge does not have a defined center, or "heart". Such a place would be essential to the prosperity and culture of Holly Ridge by giving small businesses a place to thrive and to serve as a hub to connect people through community events. Learn more
I would also like to work with the Small Business Administration and Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce to determine the feasibility of bringing a small business incubator to the region to help startup businesses grow and succeed. Learn more
While I support growth, I promise to take a fair and sensible approach to zoning decisions by remaining transparent, being empathetic taking into consideration the concerns of all stakeholders, and ensuring each decision is in the best interest of the community as a whole. Learn more
While Holly Ridge does have a nice, well-maintained municipal park and ball diamond, I think it misses the mark on other opportunities that would not only benefit Holly Ridge, but the Topsail region as a whole. For instance, leagues from neighboring communities utilize Holly Ridge's facilities as they do not have adequate facilities of their own. A sports complex that is accessible at a cost to neighboring communities, and perhaps sponsored by regional businesses, would give Holly Ridge significance. Other ideas include a recreational facility that could add sports that are not immediately available to the public (outdoor/indoor swimming pools, pickleball courts, basketball courts, etc.), an improved playground, and a splash pad for the hot Summer months. Holly Ridge has a great opportunity with the expansion of the industrial park. If elected, my focus will be on attracting larger businesses into the park that bring with them more, higher-wage jobs. By attracting more businesses, over time, it would be my goal to find ways in which the tax burden could be lessened for Holly Ridge's residents. Learn more
I will do my part as a councilman to ensure tax rates remain fair, in proportion with the cost of living and, whenever conditions present themselves to do so, try to reduce the tax burden on Holly Ridge citizens. Learn more
