When Citizens United was first approved by Congress, many of us saw the writing on the wall and knew where it would lead. Decades later, we have seen our worries become reality. Corporate donors and PACs have degraded the peoples' ability to have honorable representation. This was one of the first issues that ever got my attention and began my endeavor of being informed and involved with politics. We have seen how much money can influence an election and when endless money can flow into elections, the people suffer. Individuals should be able to donate a limited amount, but corporations should not be able to spend a dime. I will never consider a corporation a person, because I have never shook the hand of one. If I can only achieve one thing in office, this is the one that I will pursue relentlessly until my final hour. We must end Citizens United and adjust our campaign finance laws accordingly. Sovereign nations must have a secure and established border. We should all be able to agree with that statement, but how we implement the action is where we seem to be divided. Lets have a discussion together, but first, let me share my personal view. We are a nation of laws and immigrants. The Constitution is the law of our land and Lady Liberty calls for the weak, tired, and poor who yearn to breath free. It is essential that those who seek the American Dream should have a clear path and compassionate people willing to help them achieve the steps of legal immigration. We cannot and I will not demonize those who seek what many of us were born into. We need brave and honorable men and women to answer the call of ethical and diligent protection of our borders.
