As our next State Representative, I will fight every day to bring down violent crime and property crime by working with our brave men and women in uniform, and partnering with community- based neighborhood groups so that every resident and small business feels safe. Economy

Small businesses are at the heart of our economy, creating about two-thirds of NC’s new jobs. Yet small businesses don’t receive equitable tax breaks like large corporations. As our next State Representative, I will work toward a fair tax structure for small businesses and incentives for small and mid-sized companies to help create jobs. During my Listening Tour, small business owners said they are still struggling post-Covid. The increased costs of goods and finding and retaining employees are their biggest challenges. Learn more

One innovative way to support small businesses and boost our local economy is exploring and expanding programs like Chamber Cash; a initiative from the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce that encourages shopping at small, community businesses to keep local money local. Bonus! Getting to know the owner of a small business just does More. Good. As our local BE KIND Coffee team shared, sometimes people come in who need a warm, human connection even more than they need hot coffee. When we see each other face-to-face over time, we become better neighbors, build trust, and can overcome division. Building bridges is really the only way to come together. Education

As our next State Representative I will fight to increase NC teacher pay so we can help attract the best and brightest teachers to NC. When listening to teachers on our Listening Tour, restoring Master’s degree pay was a top issue. I’ll stand up for excellent public schools. Learn more

As a PTSA parent at West Forsyth High School and as a volunteer with Community for Public Schools, I’ve witnessed inequities in our system, and the soaring benefits with community steps up to pitch in. Vouchers take tax payer dollars away from our kids’ public schools with NO ROI. What business manager would allow that? What used to be a program for underserved students is now available even to the wealthiest parents. If private schools use public dollars, but don’t meet any standards (certified teachers, standardized tests, etc.), how can we justify it? Learn more

Every child deserves a quality education. North Carolina used to have the nation’s top public schools, but we’ve fallen behind. NC ranks 43rd in the amount our General Assembly allocates for per-student spending. Folks in Raleigh would rather cut taxes and under-pay teachers than invest in NC’s future economy. Not me. Thriving schools are the bedrock of a strong economy—reducing crime, preparing a better workforce, maintaining home values, and attracting jobs and families to NC. Learn more

Environment / Energy

As your next State Representative, I know that clean energy creates jobs that are a significant source of economic development. That’s why I support clean energy development with Renewable Energy tax credits. I’ll fight for increased environmental protections and work toward a greener North Carolina that benefits all of us. While they demand high environmental costs, there is some strategic value in building data centers in the USA—nearly half of all of the world's data centers are in America, totaling around 5,000 locations. How many we want, how quickly we build them, and at what cost are important factors in energy/environment policy. Decisions are being made right now at state and federal levels that will answer these questions for years to follow. As your next House representative, I understand that this moment is a big opportunity to move mindfully in the right direction—balancing environmental solutions (like using non-potable water rather than depleting drinking water supplies, planting trees to reduce heat, etc.) with AI needs. Guns

An overwhelming majority of folks in NC want common-sense measures that prevent violence. I support measures proposed by the General Assembly who see the importance of both our constitutional rights and gun safety in protecting and safeguarding our communities, including “red flag” background checks. We can have a safer state and still protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners – the two are not mutually exclusive. Learn more

As our next State Representative, I will fight for common-sense background checks for handgun purchases at point of sale and/or for permits to purchase, and continue to bar the purchase of certain assault-style weapons originally designed for military use. I will stand up for common-sense safeguarding of our rights and freedoms. Learn more

Healthcare

Reduce medical debt. This can happen privately, through local communities, and of course, state-wide programs. Learn more

As your next State Representative I will fight to increase access to quality, affordable healthcare. As a mother, I understand how important it is that every North Carolina family should be able to take their child to a health care provider when sick. Making healthcare more affordable will involve a mix of policy changes, systems reforms, and practical community interventions. Expand Medicaid and protect it. Learn more

Prevention and collaborative healthcare programs, such as NC’s Healthy Opportunities, that reduces annual costs by reviewing other issues that effect health and wellness, such as housing, nutrition, and transportation. Control Rx costs. Learn more
