But accessibility is more than wheelchair access and ADA bathroom stalls - it includes guidelines for websites, removing barriers to accessing public information and documentation, transportation, medical care, outdoor spaces…. Many areas of life are exempt/grandfathered-in and left inaccessible to large portions of our community - even if a small business desires to upgrade their facility, the cost can make it unattainable. I look forward to working with our state leaders to develop programs to help support upgrades and education to establish accessibility as a design default rather than a list of minimum requirements. It’s no secret that we need a change in affordability - housing, medical care, wages and small business growth for starters - but building sustainable economic changes requires more than dropping prices. It means developing and protecting avenues to housing for Utahns, whether renting or buying, and including oversight measures throughout industries. Utah is home to 3.5 Million Utahns, 5 national parks, and over 40 state parks. Its critical for current and future Utahns that we wisely utilize and maintain the resources we’re blessed with. As your representative I will support and write policy that requires oversite and transparency for entities that impact our environment. I will work to balance provision and care for agriculture, while protecting the Great Salt Lake, our parks, and the environment we depend on for air, water, resources and health. Learn more
