Get StartedClimate change and its impact on the local environment and citizens: Getting ready for changes on the waterfront, its impact on shipping and tourism, and how severe weather will change how the City deals with infrastructure and maintenance, need to be anticipated and acted on. This cannot be delayed until it has already happened. I need to learn more about what we can do, but encouraging residents and businesses to install solar and wind power generating capacity, exploring larger scale wind power generation, expanding bike lanes for e-bikes, expanding charging stations for electric vehicles seem like obvious avenues. We need to limit additional growth on the waterfront. I don’t want to see what happened downstate to happen here. There is one large parcel left open for development; the Board of Light and Power Shiras plant lot. I’d like to see this maintained for community use, as opposed to hotel or condominium development. The key areas of residential and commercial development I believe should be focused at the old hospital site, north Lakeshore Boulevard, and at the upper harbor power plant. Learn more
