In addition to highly effective existing programs like Drug Court, Mental Health Court, Veterans Court, the 416 Program and Center for Dialogue and Resolution diversions, I will innovate and propose the creation of Domestic Violence and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants court programs. As your District Attorney I will work closely with law enforcement, the court, legislative leaders, community groups, victims and defense attorneys to achieve the physical and financial protection of people and just outcomes for all. I support responsible reforms to our criminal justice system so that they meet the needs of our Lane County community. To enhance these alternatives to incarceration, the next District Attorney must work with community leaders and groups to develop resources and programming that will address the needs of those trapped in the cycle of criminality. These reforms, however, must not come at the expense of the safety and wellbeing of the greater community. Learn more
