Get StartedOur kids deserve a real shot. Rural schools are chronically underfunded and it shows in teacher turnover, in outdated materials, in kids who have to leave home just to get a decent education. I support increasing the Base Student Allocation, protecting rural school funding, and efforts to recruit and retain teachers in remote communities. Our kids are just as smart and just as deserving as kids anywhere else in this state. Learn more
Our right to feed our families isn't negotiable. For a lot of families in District 36, subsistence isn't a hobby, it's how you get through the year. Trawling is wiping out salmon and bycatch in our waters, and the villages pay the price for it. I support banning trawling in state waters, co-managing fish and game with tribal communities, and protecting the people who depend on subsistence most. We shouldn't punish the people at the end of the line for problems created at the source. Learn more
Nobody should have to choose between heat and groceries. Energy costs in rural Alaska are brutal, and District 36 knows it better than most. I support the Roadbelt Intertie to connect us to cheaper power, expanding renewable energy projects in our region, and making sure the Power Cost Equalization program stays funded and strong. Your heating costs, whether that's oil, electric, or wood, shouldn't be a crisis every single winter. Learn more
You shouldn't have to drive three hours for basic care. Too many of us put off doctor visits because the nearest clinic is half a day away. That's not okay. I support expanding telehealth so you can see a provider from home, funding for rural clinics, and making sure both men and women across the district can access the basic healthcare they need, including OB/GYN services, without having to leave the region. You can't participate in the modern world without internet. No reliable internet means no telehealth, no remote work, no decent education options for kids in rural communities. I support going after every available federal infrastructure dollar to get real, reliable broadband to every community in this district. Connectivity isn't a luxury anymore; it's essential and necessary for safety. Learn more
Your face and your information belong to you, not the government. I'm against biometric surveillance on public infrastructure and against the government quietly collecting data on Alaskans just going about their lives. I'll push back on data centers that want to use Alaska's land and resources without giving anything real back to our communities. Your privacy matters and I'll fight to protect it. Learn more
It's your money. Full stop. The Permanent Fund Dividend belongs to Alaskans; every single one of us. It was never supposed to be a slush fund to dip into when budgets get tight. I want to see the PFD constitutionally protected so no legislature can quietly take it away without the people having a direct say. Our current representative voted against the full PFD. I won't. Alaska's wealth should work for Alaskans. We sit on some of the most valuable oil, gas, minerals, and fisheries in the world, and yet too many of us are struggling to get by while outside companies take the profits home with them. That's not right. I support taking a hard look at whether the state is actually getting a fair return from the industries extracting our resources. The deals that were made don't have to be permanent. I'll ask the hard questions and vote for Alaskans first. Learn more
