Get StartedThe issue of abortion is always top of mind for Oklahoma voters. I myself have come a long way on my understanding of the issue. The goal of reducing the number of abortions is a noble one, and one I intend to pursue. Making this very valid medical procedure illegal, however, I will oppose utterly. As a medical professional, I recognize that there are many situations that lead us to decisions with no good answers. If a woman decides that she does not continue to consent to move forward with one of the most life threatening medical events in their lifetime, for any reason, I will support that decision. If we were to appropriate the funds to put solar in to power our buildings we would get that money back within 7-10 years. Then it keeps paying us back each year after. If we appropriate these panels for public school buildings that would eliminate the second highest expense behind teacher pay from school budgets. Since both expenses usually come from the general fund, these savings would instantly be available to increase teacher pay and/or hire more teachers. We must stop all military aid to the country of Israel until they have stopped this campaign and begun to make restitution. This must be after a change from Netanyahu and his extremist governing partners. To continue providing military aid with knowledge of the war crimes the Netanyahu administration is committing is against both our own law as well as international law. Learn more
The most important goal of this and any serious campaign for change is overturning the disastrous Citizens United decision. Treating corporate campaign donations and the subsequent dark money contributions to PACs and SuperPACs as protected free speech has brought our representative democracy to its knees. Studies show that voter opinion on an issue is essentially untethered to the eventual outcome of legislation. The interests of the big monied donors on the other hand, direct correlation. Learn more
Medicare and Medicaid are by far more efficient than private insurers with administrative costs as low as 2 cents on the dollar. If I were leading the charge in Washington on how to overhaul runaway healthcare costs I would switch us to a Medicare for All system. No more Medicaid, TriCare, VA etc. All rolled into Medicare. Healthcare should not be a for profit sector. My votes in the Senate would be in the service of moving us toward that future. Learn more
I would under no circumstance be a Yes vote for ICE appropriations while we continue this shameful and lawless practice. I would be a Yes vote to claw back appropriations that are supporting ICE as it currently exists. Learn more
I propose we tie the federal minimum wage to the MIT Living Wage Calculator set to single adult with no kids. This would be on a county by county basis for the employer and would be reevaluated every year on January 1st. As an elected representative I would obviously be a yes vote for any measure that raises the minimum wage. My goal, however, is to make it so that the federal minimum remains responsive to changes as well as specific to regional differences. Learn more
