We need more housing, now. Housing has seen dramatic increases in cost, not all of which is due to the market. Regulation and fees account for almost a third of the cost of a house. We need to strategically expand our Urban growth areas, grow our construction trades workforce, encourage increased production, and reduce unnecessary regulations. Right now only 18% of people in our region can afford to purchase a home. We need to make sure the American Dream of homeownership is an opportunity for as many people as possible, not just a select few. Learn more
This year the state legislature passed the biggest tax increase in state history. The budget increased by 15 billion dollars and is now double what it was 10 years ago. Our population didn’t double and our expendable income didn’t double. These increases came as a result of runaway spending and wishful thinking.
