Get StartedProtection of Women’s Rights. The rights of women have been under attack. The Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade took protection away from women to have a voice over their own bodies. This is not only about abortion, but quality reproductive health care for women. Learn more
At the capitol, I will fight for funding for rural economic development and training to ensure a skilled workforce. Development must include local schools/colleges, state/local government support, businesses development partners, and representation from labor to help eliminate barriers and incentivize economic development. We must foster innovation and create employment opportunities with livable and sustainable compensation in order to develop a stronger middle class, which is the backbone of this great nation. The takeaway is that partnerships between policymakers, private businesses, and consumers can develop policies that produce clean energy, create new jobs, increase tourism, and reduce energy costs. I will work closely with our policy makers, private businesses and consumers to continue to produce energy, create new jobs, increase tourism and control the cost of energy. I will fight hard to protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, State Parks, and National/State Forestry Areas to ensure that these precious resources are available for our future generations. Enjoying Minnesota’s natural resources has always been special to me. Watching a surreal sunset over a royal blue lake calms my soul. But these resources are at risk of disappearing right before our eyes. We must protect these irreplaceable resources for future generations. Uncontrolled pollution threatens our clean water, air, and soil. Poor resource management can have a negative effect on forests, fisheries and water resources. Energy consumption and climate change threaten our fragile ecosystems. Fortunately, Minnesota DNR and Forestry programs are dedicated to protecting our natural resources. Our state parks and protected wilderness are invaluable. Thanks to the efforts of Senator Klobuchar and Senator Smith, 130 new clean energy projects have been funded in the rural area. Total investment of 15.6 million will deliver substantial annual savings of 18.4 million for farms and small businesses in rural Minnesota while advancing the state’s clean energy goals. Learn more
Rural hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities face significant risks due to reductions in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements and the rising cost of health insurance. The expiration of enhanced federal subsidies for ACA premiums at the end of 2025 is expected to increase the number of uninsured individuals, leading to greater reliance on uncompensated emergency care. This trend threatens the financial stability of rural healthcare providers. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act would reduce federal Medicaid spending by 793 billion and increase the number of uninsured people by 7.8 million nationwide, including 170,000 in Minnesota. As the uninsured population grows, rural hospitals will experience additional financial strain. A sustainable and equitable solution requires collaboration among government, insurers, and healthcare providers to ensure coverage, maintain facility viability, and uphold high standards of care. We are one of the richest countries in the world. We should be able to figure this out. Learn more
The answer is yes, but it will take investment. Part of the issue in the rural area is inventory (i.e. Not enough units). The Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) plays a significant role in promoting affordable housing through various programs, including loans, grants and short-term rental assistance. The agency is designed to create and maintain affordable housing. But they have limited resources. Once in office, I will work to increase the funding available to MHFA for rural investments. I will also work to develop more private/public relationships to ensure that there is adequate affordable funding for first-time homeowners. We must ensure that our older residents have safe and stable housing while increasing the inventory of single-family homes. Learn more
The affordable housing crisis in Minnesota is a pressing issue that requires immediate action. By increasing funding for housing creation and preservation, supporting diverse housing choices, and implementing effective assistance programs, affordable housing will provide long-term benefits such as building generational wealth, permanent housing, and stable communities.
