Get StartedGas is a huge financial stressor for Washingtonians. Jamie is committed to long-term investment in expanded public transit infrastructure (including trains), but that's the long-term. People are struggling right now with the cost of gas. Learn more
State governments have the power to provide for their citizens... If they have the money. By making the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share, we can fully fund and guarantee free medical, dental, and childcare for all Washington State residents. These are basic amenities that should have been afforded to the American people long ago. It hasn't been solved nationally, so it will have to be solved locally. Learn more
We are in a cost of living crisis, and the only thing the state legislature has done about it is passed a law that lets landlords charge tenants 9.7% more for rent every year. Rent has outpaced wage growth almost every single month for the past 15 years. 49% of renter households are now officially cost-burdened. Renters are losing the ability to pay for basic necessities every year, and our legislature is only making the problem worse. Jamie will fight to implement effective rent control caps (3% or less) and limit the purchasing power of private equity firms that are suffocating the market and driving prices sky-high. Learn more
The state unfortunately can't control the global price of oil... But we can modify antitrust enforcement to address tacit collusion between the refineries, and we can implement a tax on price-gouging profits, putting that money right back into the pockets of the people. Jamie wholly rejects corporate PACs and lobbying money, and will fight for the people every chance he gets. Learn more
As your State Representative, Jamie will fight for a State Wealth Tax on ultra-millionaires and billionaires. To be absolutely clear: this is not a tax on your paycheck. It is not a tax on your small business, on your home, on your gas, or on your groceries. This is a tax that will exclusively target the hoarded wealth of the ultra-rich. A tax on wealth cannot be escaped by sending funds to an island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, and it cannot be escaped by moving away from the state. This is a tax that will target 2,939 individuals in the state. If you work for your money, this tax will protect you, not target you. Learn more
