While the state has been working on the primary roads such as freeways and highways, our local roads and bridges are also crumbling. Currently, monies coming from the state go directly to the county. Many county projects require local governments to have matching funds in order to complete the projects. Learn more
Smaller communities have had to bear a lot of the cost of the police and fire departments. Since 2011 when much of the revenue sharing was cut, the legacy costs of local departments has been difficult to budget for and at the same time keep the positions with good wages & benefits. Communities have had to bargain away so much of the wages & benefits that it has been difficult to hire new employees and keep long term. Learn more
