Get StartedPlainly stated, equality based on race, religion, and national origin are named in the United States Constitution, but gender is not. The result can be unequal justice for men and women. The simple, yet much needed statement “equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged or denied on account of gender” must be added to the Minnesota State Constitution in order to ensure full gender equality. Minnesotans who have honorably served our country deserve our respect when they return home and they deserve benefits that are second to none. These benefits must include: a clear path to higher education and job training, affordable housing and good jobs, and complete and unencumbered access to health care. As a society, we are now mostly aware of the mental health needs of our veterans. Yet, we have been slow to act. I will doggedly work for complete and timely mental health care for the men and women who have served. Learn more
N order to support the local farming community there are some common sense steps that we can take to ensure we maintain and strengthen agriculture in our district. These steps include: grain storage safety, additional funding for equipment which responds to poultry and livestock disease, and price supports which will help sustain and grow Minnesota farmers well being. If you are wondering why school districts all over the state are asking to increase your local property taxes, the reason is simple, our state legislature has failed to uphold its constitutional mandate to adequately fund our schools. Districts asking their residents to vote for a referendum every two, four, six years divides communities. Plus, it exacerbates a “have or have not” system. I am wholeheartedly committed to fully funding our public schools. Learn more
We live in a beautiful state, and we need to preserve it. The evidence is clear, we can protect our environment and create jobs at the same time. It is time for an energy transition and I fully support a massive shift to solar and wind power. Additionally, I fully support the maintenance of, and potential expansion of, the nuclear power plant in Monticello. Moreover, I fully support tax incentives for those who purchase electric trucks and cars. Finally, I will introduce legislation that limits the use of unnecessary plastic. Learn more
All individuals and families should have mental-health services that are responsive to their needs: social and physical barriers need to be reduced, access needs to be expanded in rural areas, and wellness and recovery programs (focusing on job training and community integration), need to be fully funded and expanded. I will fight to lower premiums for the middle class. I will fight for free, accessible mental health services for anyone who has served our country. I will fight for the cheapest possible prescription drug costs for those whose lives depend on it. Learn more
Labor unions are essential for a strong, thriving working class and middle class. Throughout United States history, labor unions have fought for and won better pay and safer working conditions for workers in both the private and public sectors. Superior health care benefits are also a result of union activism. These union benefits help create stable and healthy families, as well as a stronger economy. Attacks on unions are attacks on American workers. I wholeheartedly support labor unions, collective bargaining and workers’ well being. Learn more
Paid Family Leave is one of the best ways Minnesota can help working-class families. Families should not be forced into choosing work over caring for a newborn or loved one that is hurt or sick. Additionally, Minnesota can have Paid Family Leave that won’t hurt business, eight states already do. The program can be paid for through contributions by employees, not employers. Minnesota must be a state that puts families first and Paid Family Leave is an important step in that process. Learn more
