However, their foresight produced Article V of our U.S. Constitution, which grants the States the authority to call a Convention of the States to propose Amendments to the Constitution. The current initiative has been legislatively approved by 19 States and is limited to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress. I will lead MN to join this effort, which will trigger the Convention when 34 States pass the initiative. This will provide a model for MN, upon which we can implement similar amendments to our State Constitution. Learn more
I will govern within the scope of the MN State and U.S. Constitutions and the Declaration of Independence, all of which are grounded in the fact that our rights are endowed by our Creator, the God of the Bible, and that these documents are intrinsically built upon the Christian development of Western culture. Our immigration policy is also built upon this foundation, requiring, by oath, that citizenship entails the renunciation of fidelity and all allegiance to any foreign prince, potentate, or sovereignty. Historically, this pattern of assimilation into our God-ordained Republic has included the adoption of English as our common language, requiring occasional limits and even the suspension of immigration to advance this process.
