Provide a safe and secure learning environment in Manchester Public Schools by addressing issues of violence, bullying, and mental health support for students. Public schools need to support enhancement of school safety due to threats, such as increase funding for security personnel, training programs, and equipping staff with the skills they need to protect themselves and their students (if requested). Manchester public schools must address teacher shortages by attracting and retaining qualified teachers. The teachers in our city need adequate resources to run their classrooms. These resources should not be paid for by them personally, as it currently stands. Manchester public schools need better teacher-student ratios for more efficient learning environments. Our public school should enact a merit- based evaluation and accountability system for teachers, including revisiting tenure policies, to ensure quality teaching (many private and charter schools have implemented this with success). Encourage the increase of parental involvement in the schools, and in the decision making processes. I believe parents are the primary stakeholders in their children’s education, keeping parents informed of the educational platform that we are providing and allowing them to decide what their children should be exposed to.
