Get StartedOur laws are not applied equally to all people. We must work diligently to pass legislation that is not biased against any single group. We must remove moneyed interests and contracts with private prisons. We need to focus on helping the people who are already in the system, especially upon their release. Policies that target recidivism are an important way of getting people back on their feet and are far less expensive than having them return to the justice system in an endless cycle. The school to prison pipeline must end. Learn more
We must invest in local public classrooms so that we can hire more teachers, reduce class sizes, and pay teachers a livable wage. Julie will fight for free college for all. We need to start investing in and preparing our children for the jobs of the future. We must invest in the development of new drugs and technologies that cure disease and alleviate pain—not wasting hundreds of billions of dollars a year on profiteering, huge executive compensation packages, and outrageous administrative costs. I want to expand programs like Community Development Block Grants, which provide communities with the resources they need to grow while protecting the availability of affordable housing. We can help our most vulnerable neighbors by expanding programs for subsidized housing—and making the system easier to navigate, improving the coordination of services and providing immediate help to those in immediate need. We should stand with vulnerable people in our communities by vigorously defending California’s Sanctuary State Law. Learn more
