Get StartedEnforcing our laws: Our current senator is making it easier for criminals to get out of jail or avoid jail time all together. We need to pass laws and enforce them that have required jail time for violent offences such as rape, theft with a firearm, car jackings and murder. Learn more
K through 12 school meals for only children who qualify for free and reduced meals. Learn more
Improve educational outcomes for all children: More than half of our students cannot read, do math or understand science at grade level. It all starts with reading. A child who cannot read cannot understand story problems in math or more intricate problems in science. We need to follow the reforms in Louisiana which required phonics to be taught in all schools, children that cannot read at grade level by the third grade must be held back and restore discipline in the classroom. By removing the disruptive child from the classroom and providing necessary counseling to the child the rest of the students do not have their valuable learning time disrupted and puts teachers back in control of their classrooms. Redirect the use of technology in grade schools: It has been proven that technology reduces a child’s ability to learn. Technology has already been banned in Sweden’s schools. Day to day learning should be done with paper and pencils for grade school instruction with the teacher as the source of the education instead of the IPAD. Technology should be available in the library for research. Learn more
School Safety: I will push for 3 D Response systems be enacted in all K-12 schools including public, private and charter and eventually in our colleges. This system provides alert buttons in all rooms which, when set off, alert the local police to the exact location of the intruder and locks down the entire building while also communicating to the people inside what exactly is happening. This bill will also enact strong repercussions for those who set off false alarms. Learn more
Roads repaved: Taxpayers pay to have roads for safe travel. Ensure tax money (both assessed and via local, county, and state taxes) are used only for tax payer approved items. St Paul residents deserve to have their streets properly paved in a short, timely fashion. Taxpayers should not be penalized by higher costs or delays while Contractors operate on ‘incentives’ included in their bids for repairs. Contractors must be penalized for failing to get work done in the time allotted. Learn more
End taxes on social security: Seniors already paid taxes on this money. Allow them to keep the money they earned without the burden of further taxes. Learn more
Our current senator avoids this topic as if it does not occur, meanwhile billions of taxpayers hard-earned tax dollars continue to be funneled to fraudsters. Stealing and misuse of taxpayer money must have real penalties – strong jail sentences, forced restitution of every fraudulent act and subsequent benefit. Stop Fraud before it begins! As your Senator I will enact laws that prevent fraud by requiring a full audit of every organization applying for government grants. This includes site visits, background checks, and receipts of work performed before grants are paid out. Every increase in payments must require the same scrutiny. And every organization must reapply for government grants every year to receive the same level of money. Learn more
Paid family medical leave: Only up to 12 weeks. Learn more
