Get StartedLimiting my autonomy to make my own healthcare decisions directly calls into question my humanity but let me be very clear. I am a human. My humanity is not up for debate and neither is my ability to make decisions about my own healthcare. Learn more
We have a responsibility to ensure that all kids in Washington have access to a quality public education. There are so many factors that contribute to the successes and difficulties our students may face in their academic career. Our approach to education should be holistic, thoughtful, and committed to giving students the skills they need to thrive not just as workers but also as healthy, happy humans. Learn more
A growing number of Washington students are relying on special education services to achieve success in school. We must ensure that schools have the resources needed to run programs that fully meet the needs of these students. Learn more
I support increasing access to early childhood education. Effective pre-K programs teach our students how to be curious learners, decrease language barriers for ESL students and provide critical access to socialization that helps kids learn how to regulate their emotions and better prepares them to be successful in their education. Whether it's our beloved native species like Salmon and Orcas, or us humans, our health existence depends on having access to clean water. We must invest in preventing pollution from runoff, clean up our waters, and ensure that the Department of Ecology is meeting its reporting requirements so we can track pollution. . Learn more
Climate Justice isn't just about taking action to mitigate climate change. It also means investing in communities and populations that are already facing adverse effects as a result of climate change and pollution to build resiliency and improve outcomes. Learn more
Out of control forest fires have become a regular terror for our state of late. These fires put lives in jeopardy, devastate homes, and create dangerous air pollution for all Washingtonians. We need to invest in making our forests more resilient against fires to prevent these devastating disasters. Learn more
Fossil Fuels have a very real cost to our society and it's time to make sure that the short-term cost more accurately matches the long-term cost of using carbon. I propose a Carbon Tax, similar to those put forward by voters twice via Ballot Initiatives, with revenue being invest into our local infrastructure and ensuring that Washington hits or exceeds its green energy goals. . We've taken great steps with the Clean Energy Transformation Act, but now is not the time to get complacent. No one should be forced to choose between paying for their prescription medication or paying their rent. Particularly when drugs are developed using government funding, we must regulate prescription drug prices to ensure that humanity is prioritized over excessive profits. Learn more
Healthcare is a human right. We should not treat it as a commodity. It's time for The United States to disentangle healthcare from employment and move to a single-payer system - until that happens, we have the ability to make it so for Washington. Learn more
We must close loopholes that allow corporations to evade paying their fair share of taxes while reaping the benefits of the resources and services that us citizens pay for with our taxes. This reclaimed money can help us fund a world-class education for every Washington student, invest in training our next generation of workers and ensure that we have the infrastructure to keep residents safe and our economy thriving. Learn more
Washington State has the most regressive tax structure in the country. Our lowest-income residents pay around 17% of their income to taxes while the highest-earning Washingtonians pay only around 3% of their income to taxes. Not only is this system clearly inequitable, it leaves us struggling to meet our budget needs while putting an undue burden on our low and middle-income residents. Learn more
One tool to address our regressive tax structure is to implement a capital gains tax. By asking our millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share, we can invest in our communities and build a more resilient, healthy, prosperous future for everyone in Washington. Learn more
"Right to work" is really just "right to work for less." Critical to the safety and security of American workers is their ability to organize together in pursuit of fair wages and benefits. As a proud union member, I promise to protect workers' right to organize. Learn more
Workers create wealth. They deserve access to fair wages and safe workplaces. We can no longer tolerate massive corporations that rack up billions in profits while their employees struggle to pay their bills and lack access to affordable healthcare and childcare. I support raising the minimum wage and stopping employers from keeping part-time employees on poverty wages without access to benefits instead of paying people for full-time work. Learn more
