Get StartedJust as women may exercise the choice to give birth, women and (females of accountable age) should be free to decide about their bodies in the matter of birth or terminating a pregnancy, especially in the case of being raped or under compulsion to engage in a sexual intercourse resulting in an unwanted and unexpected pregnancy. Learn more
I am pro-choice. No woman or girl should be forced or compelled to carry to birth an unwanted pregnancy. The woman's body is sacred and should not be subjected to the whims and dictates of misogynist-minded males nor to the public affirmation of the women who embrace birthing--at all costs. Learn more
I will fight to restore, protect, and preserve voting rights as outlined in Section 2 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. It is through the democratic process of casting the ballot that people have a legitimate voice in government and whereby people are allowed to elect their candidate of choice to represent their vested interests. Learn more
I will work to create legislation that provides alternative solutions to incarceration, rehabilitates and restores persons with criminal convictions, provides holistic victim assistance, and reallocates and reinvests resources to communities to address the root causes of criminality. Learn more
I support a regional and robust job growth fueled by a diverse workforce of agriculture and farming, education, health, and technology, construction and manufacturing, small business development and entrepreneurial opportunities and green jobs. Good paying jobs will lift people out of poverty. A more diverse economy is essential to building a progressive and prosperous D-05. It's good for Louisiana which ranks as one of the most impoverished states in the nation. More important having a job and the ability to earn a good living breeds dignity. Learn more
I will be a strong advocate for teachers pay. Also, I will vigorously advocate for free college tuition. Investing in the education of our people is the biggest investment our state and nation can make. Learn more
I will advocate for the full funding of our public schools and public higher education institutions. Currently, the lack of real investments in our children's education is an affront to every parent who has a scholar enrolled in the public school system. We need students to have the educational resources and tools to free their minds to soar to intellectual heights and academic excellence. Learn more
I support a clean air Act, prevention and removal of pollutants in our rivers, lakes, and oceans. This means supporting renewable energy, green jobs, carbon monoxide free automobiles, and ending corporate toxic waste into our urban centers and rural communities. Learn more
The Electoral College, simply put, is outdated. It flies in the face of the democratic process and stands as an ever-present negating instrumentality against the will of the voting public. Learn more
In order to maintain and effective and energized Congress that will do the people's work, both members of the Senate and the House, should be limited to a set number of consecutive years or terms to serve in their respective office. Likewise, members of the Supreme Court and Federal court(s), where applicable, should be limited as to their service on the court. Learn more
Severe cuts and/or elimination of either of these safety nets will undermine the overall health and well-being of millions of Americans. Learn more
I will support legislation to protect, preserve, and expand Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Health is perhaps the most important issue that everyone should agree on. After all, a healthy America can only exist when people have access to affordable health care. Learn more
I will work on legislation to end the greed of the legal crooks and agencies they prey on financially struggling customers. Learn more
The current federal minimum hourly wage (7.25) is not complimentary to the present living costs. Unless the federal minimum wage is raised significantly to provide people with an adequate income to secure their basic needs (food, housing, education), poverty levels will continue to rise. I support a significant increase in the federal minimum wage and that wages, across the board, should be a living wage that provides for the sustainability and viability of individuals and their households.
