Every Coloradan, whether living in a quiet neighborhood in Boulder or in a military community in Colorado Springs, deserves to live without fear and enjoy all that our state has to offer. Unfortunately, too many families no longer feel safe in the communities they once trusted. I will work to restore safe and secure communities by supporting law enforcement and first responders, holding violent offenders accountable, and ensuring our justice system prioritizes victims and public safety. When I transitioned to civilian life, I stayed in close contact with many of the men and women I served alongside. In just a few short years, nearly all of them have left Colorado in search of opportunity elsewhere. Unfortunately, this is not limited to veterans. Families I speak with at my children’s sporting events, friends, and neighbors all say the same thing—Colorado has become unaffordable. Efforts to undermine TABOR, burdensome regulations on small businesses, and policies that drive up the cost of healthcare, childcare, utilities, insurance, groceries, and housing are pushing families out of our state. Regulations that make it harder to produce goods and provide services only worsen the problem. For the people of Senate District 11 and all Coloradans, I will fight to remove the handcuffs from businesses and industry, restoring affordability, opportunity, and the freedom to build a strong and prosperous future.
