Every person deserves the freedom to make deeply personal medical decisions without government interference. While Michigan voters took an important step by protecting reproductive freedom in our constitution, we know those rights will continue to face political attacks and cannot be taken for granted. I will always defend access to reproductive health care, including abortion, contraception, fertility treatment, and maternal health care. I also believe we must address the broader challenges families face by improving access to affordable health care, paid leave, and prenatal and postpartum support. Too many Michigan families are struggling with high insurance costs, expensive prescription drugs, and barriers to getting the care they need. We need a health care system that puts people first and ensures everyone can access care when they need it. I support protecting and expanding access to affordable health coverage, lowering prescription drug costs, and strengthening Medicaid. I also believe we must increase access to mental health care and address disparities in health outcomes across communities.
