Immigration benefits our country, but the system needs to operate more efficiently. We should process work visas, asylum claims, and refugee requests fairly and swiftly, allowing people to contribute to our economy. Instead of addressing the real issues, we've allocated 100 billion to immigration enforcement, building inhumane camps, and using masked agents on the streets. The biggest threat to our democracy is our skyrocketing national debt. Back in 2016, we owed 16 trillion; now it’s around 36.6 trillion, and interest payments are expected to hit about 1.1 trillion in 2024. This spending on debt now overshadows what we spend on Medicare and defense, ranking second only to Social Security. As our debt grows and interest rates go up, we have less money for essential things like infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
