Get StartedCannabis is a legal industry in Michigan, and like any business, it must be managed responsibly. My position is that Madison Heights should take a balanced approach—allowing opportunities for revenue and job creation while ensuring we prioritize public safety, zoning, and community input so that cannabis businesses enhance, rather than disrupt, our neighborhoods. The top challenges are rising costs, workforce shortages, and navigating regulations. The city can help by creating mentorship and networking opportunities, connecting businesses with grant and funding sources, and ensuring policies are consistent and transparent. We can also support businesses by promoting Madison Heights as a regional hub for dining, services, and community events. Learn more
I will pursue streamlined permitting, clear zoning guidance, and stronger partnerships between the city, Chamber of Commerce, and local entrepreneurs. I want to expand access to small business resources, workforce training, and incentives that attract innovative companies. Supporting “third spaces” like co-working hubs and investing in infrastructure that makes doing business easier are also priorities. Learn more
I would consider modernizing the charter to make it more adaptable to today’s challenges. One priority would be reviewing how we fund infrastructure and city services, ensuring the Charter gives us the ability to innovate without always requiring costly ballot initiatives that slow down needed improvements. I support developing workforce housing programs for first responders, teachers, healthcare workers, and others who are vital to our community. I also believe in partnerships with nonprofits and developers to ensure a mix of housing options that fit every stage of life. Preserving affordability while attracting new residents is crucial to maintaining a balanced city. Learn more
Car washes are a legitimate business, but we’ve reached a saturation point in the city. Land is limited, and we need to ensure future development aligns with long-term goals—like diversifying business opportunities, supporting mixed-use spaces, and building community amenities that better serve residents. I would favor limiting additional car wash developments. Learn more
Environmental protection is essential to the future of Madison Heights. Our residents deserve clean air, water, and sustainable green spaces. I support energy-efficient city buildings, tree canopy preservation, and infrastructure upgrades that reduce flooding and emissions. Protecting the environment is not separate from growth—it’s how we ensure the city thrives for generations. Learn more
Quick tax cuts can sound good on paper, but they often cost residents more in the long run. When cuts reduce funding for police, fire, clean parks, or trash pickup, families pay extra out of pocket for what the city no longer provides. I believe our dollars are stronger together when we invest in services that keep Madison Heights safe and livable. Learn more
Under Michigan’s Headlee Amendment and Proposal A, only the voters can approve a tax increase. As mayor, my role is to make sure residents are informed, and that your tax dollars are managed responsibly — not to raise your taxes. Learn more
