Get StartedOur local fire departments and paramedics need our help. I recently spoke with the firehouse Captain in Bellefonte, and he expressed to me the troubles they are having with damaged fire trucks, volunteer shortages, and paramedics being stretched to their limits. Although, my position is not in charge of funding them, I would like to use my position to shine a light on the troubles they are having, and help them in anyway I can. Learn more
Being a veteran myself, I've lived and seen the struggles many veterans and their families go through. Unfortunately, so many are plagued with injuries both mental and physical, and struggle with homelessness and drug and alcohol abuse. Suicide rates amongst veterans account for 14% of all adult suicides, and that is absolutely unacceptable. They have these issues because they answered a call no-one else would. I will go to bat for veterans and push for more funding and help. They made a huge sacrifice to both their mental and physical health to protect the rights of the citizens of America and we should acknowledge their sacrifice by protecting and caring for them after the job is done. The elderly citizens in this district, and across the State of Delaware, are in danger of losing their homes and not being able to keep up with the rising prices of bills, food costs, and general life. I would like the opportunity to help them in anyway the district or state can; whether it be grants, tax relief, rebates, or some other form of relief. They've worked hard for most of their lives, they should be able to live out the rest of their days not worrying if they will lose their homes, not be able to afford to eat, or won't have enough to pay the heating bill. As a minority myself, I have long been an advocate for small and minority owned businesses. Along with providing services in our districts small and minority businesses play an integral roll in our community. I want to preserve the right and ability for small business to continue to have a growing footprint and to provide for their community and growing families. Learn more
The state of education in education in America is in dire need of help. The average American adult reads at a 7th-8th grade level. We simply need to do better! Delaware is ranked 35th in Education among the 50 states. Again, we need to do better, and we can do that by putting money back into the schools to help our children become the future leaders we know they can be. Learn more
A huge issue plaguing families in the 6th district, and the State of Delaware, is energy and utility costs. We need to revisit the contracts the State of Delaware has with utility companies, as monthly utility bills continue to rise with no end in sight. I believe the state of Delaware has an obligation to renegotiate terms of the contracts we have with utility companies and give the people some much needed relief; and when the contracts are written, have the people of Delaware, and the 6th district, in mind. For too long the citizens of the 6th district have had to deal with deteriorating roads, potholes, old power lines, and cracked streets. I believe that communities all over the 6th district need roads and sidewalks repaired, replaced, and/or modernized. Learn more
I am against the plans to build a Container Port in the Edgemoor area for the following reasons: The roads will experience hundreds of thousands more trucks passing through, there are countless safety concerns along with air quality issues, not to mention what the dredging will do to the wildlife located in the river. Also, the jobs created for construction sounds like a positive, but how many jobs for citizens will be available after the all-electric operations with automated or semi-automated infrastructure is completed? And are those construction jobs being filled by construction members within our community or are will they be contracted from all over? Learn more
