The government should not be in our doctor’s offices–the government has gotten far too big when it is making our medical decisions for us. I trust my constituents to make their own medical decisions, and I will continue to stand up for your right to do just that! It is clear that as a state government, we need to address racial disparities in healthcare, education, housing, and the criminal justice system. We need representatives to the Wisconsin State Assembly who will truly govern with a commitment to “liberty and justice for all”. We have both a moral and constitutional duty to ensure that the legislation of our state provides all people equal protection and the opportunity for life, and liberty. Wisconsin families are facing a childcare cliff, and now is the time to act. Rising costs and closures of childcare centers are making it nearly impossible–sometimes impossible–for families to access childcare. This is an economic issue, and deserves swift action from legislators. Childcare centers are the workforce behind the workforce–we must continue to act to help Wisconsin families, save childcare centers, and support our local economy. Learn more
Every small business owner knows how hard it is to provide affordable healthcare for themselves, and their family. That’s why I introduced a BadgerCare Public Option alongside my Democratic colleagues. Allowing any Wisconsin citizen, regardless of income, to purchase health coverage through BadgerCare removes the burden of providing healthcare to employees from small business owners. Over 99% of Wisconsin businesses are small businesses–Wisconsin is a small business state! I know how difficult it is to start and run a small business. Almost two decades ago, I started a professional photography business that remains vibrant today. Small businesses are part of the fabric of our communities, and are key to Wisconsin’s economy. Special education deserves to be properly funded so our students can receive the attention and resources they need to succeed. Special education has suffered from budget cuts over the last decade, but we were able to win some small increases during my time in office, and we need to win more.
