Advance legislation for a Fair Funding Formula that will significantly increase the amount of funding that the Philadelphia School District receives. PA must abandon its reliance on property taxes to fund its public education – a process that restricts your educational access to your zip code and disproportionately benefits wealthier locations of the commonwealth and hurts poorer ones in our commonwealth. Our school buildings are falling apart, our teachers are underpaid, and our students lack proper access to mental health resources. All the while, Pennsylvania is 47th in the nation in public education spending. As we continue transitioning to in-person learning while still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe that all children, teachers, and community residents have the right to feel safe and secure in their school facilities. Support sustainable funding and increased investments in transit, including making our public transit fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Learn more

Support the implementation of a statewide Green New Deal that centers union jobs and a Civilian Climate Corps to transform our society to renewable energy and beyond. These union jobs can focus on fixing our broken streets, bridges, roads, and buildings – all while making them more climate-resilient for the future. Learn more

Our city is at a tipping point – facing the overlapping crises of global warming, public disinvestment, and economic inequality. Our infrastructure is ill-prepared for the effects of our climate crisis, as we saw recently with Hurricane Ida and the historic flooding of Manayunk’s Main Street, Ridge Avenue in East Falls, and beyond. Government Reform

As your State Representative in the 194th district, I will support legislation expanding access to voting in our Commonwealth and increasing engagement in our electoral process. I also support the movement to make future redistricting efforts fairer, so voters choose their elected officials instead of elected officials choosing their voters. Learn more

Healthcare

Support passage of Medicare-for-All legislation that will protect Pennsylvanians across the state making sure that no one goes uninsured. I will advocate for short-term solutions for healthcare, including expansion of Medicaid by lowering eligibility threshold, increasing CHIP funding, regulating drug prices, and investing in community hospitals and community health and preventative care. Have a holistic approach to healthcare rooted in community care – invest in mental health resources, and address the correlation between gun violence and health. Learn more

I fundamentally believe that healthcare is a human right. No one should lack access to care because they cannot afford it or fear hidden costs. We demand a healthcare system accountable to patients and communities rather than insurance and pharmaceutical companies seeking to pad their profits. Learn more

Oppose all efforts restricting reproductive justice including attacks on a person’s right to choose. Learn more

Ban discrimination of LGBTQI patients & create more LGBQTI inclusivity in the health profession. Learn more

Promote racial equity in healthcare –including diversity of leadership in healthcare institutions from the top down (CEO, CFO, CNO to physicians to nurse managers, etc.) and invest in having Black and Brown healthcare workers in senior levels of leadership. Learn more

Housing

Support an end to exclusionary zoning practice as well as ending the 10 year tax abatement, as it benefits wealthier newcomers to Philadelphia, yet does not bring any new tax revenue into the city and back into our communities. Learn more

Fight for our elder community. Older adults are cornerstones of our community, should be able to remain in their homes, should not be taxed out of their own homes, and should not be harassed by developers to sell. Learn more

Work to regulate development in our district. This means promoting the investment of accessible and affordable housing while also fighting for construction and housing density regulations. Learn more

Infrastructure / Transportation

Support investments in the state’s infrastructure, including creating more equitable transit for people across the state and supporting the creation of good union jobs. Learn more

As the cost of food, basic services, and housing rise across our city and country, wages are stagnant. Our communities face an increasingly real threat of climate disaster while our infrastructure continues to crumble. As many of us continue to struggle to pay our bills and put food on the table, the wealthier grow both wealthier and more powerful.
