Get StartedEquity requires governing frameworks with accountability metrics, not just good intentions. On the Board of Higher Ed, I helped adopt the Equity Agenda making racial equity the north star of Massachusetts public higher education. I voted for Early College to close the college access gap. When the Muslim Travel Ban targeted immigrant and Muslim communities, I filed seven amicus briefs and four Supreme Court justices cited our work. I'll fight to reform the criminal justice system, restore voting rights, protect LGBTQ residents and gender-affirming care, advance disability rights, address environmental justice, and ensure the voices of marginalized communities shape the policies that affect them. I spent nearly two decades leading MassTLC, building MassRobotics, launching Boston TechJam, and connecting our innovation community to federal policymakers through annual DC Fly-Ins. Massachusetts leads the world in life sciences, climate tech, robotics, and higher education. I'll defend the full DRIVE Initiative, invest in workforce development for clean energy and healthcare, support small businesses, protect workers' rights to organize, and ensure the clean energy transition creates broadly accessible good jobs. I voted on the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education (BHE) to create Early College in 2017. It now serves 12,000 students at nearly double the college-going rate of comparable peers, two-thirds of them Black, Latino, or low-income. I also helped create the BHE Equity Agenda and MassTransfer. On the Winchester School Committee I drove the net zero debate, initiated the third party review that led to reform of our literacy curriculum, and have been the consistent voice for families who can't show up to public comment. In the Senate I'll champion H.4407 to codify Early College into law and fully fund public education from pre-K through higher education. Learn more
Massachusetts must lead on climate, and the House has been an obstacle, not a partner. I helped Winchester earn Climate Leader designation, build our community's first all-electric net zero school, and pass a 7 million solar bonding initiative at Town Meeting. In the Senate I'll require net zero ready design for all new MSBA-funded school construction, tie state climate grants to outcome metrics, protect offshore wind and clean energy investment, and defend our wildlife and natural habitats. Healthcare should be accessible to everyone regardless of employment or immigration status. I'll fight for the full DRIVE Initiative to defend Massachusetts' life sciences leadership against federal NIH cuts. I'll extend the FARM consumer protection framework I helped create on the Board of Higher Ed to hospital closures, address surprise billing and drug pricing, expand mental health access, support evidence-based approaches to youth screen time, and defend reproductive rights and Shield Act 2.0 protections. Massachusetts has had progressive majorities for decades. The question is whether we're measuring the right things. I support tying state housing funding to units actually built rather than just zoning adopted, the same outcome-based model Winchester used to earn Climate Leader designation. I support local rent stabilization, full MBTA Communities Act implementation, and extending the FARM consumer protection model I helped create on the Board of Higher Education to hospital closures so communities aren't left without essential services. This is personal. My family has been involved in refugee resettlement for four decades. When the Muslim Travel Ban was announced, I organized a coalition, produced a 100-page report, and filed seven amicus briefs across six federal cases with all four dissenting Supreme Court justices citing our work. I'll fight for the strongest possible PROTECT Act conference committee outcome, support the Immigrant Legal Defense Act, protect workers regardless of status, and use every state-level tool available to keep immigrant families safe. Massachusetts has a Beacon Hill problem. The deeper issue is structural: too much power concentrated in leadership, too little transparency, and too few ways for the public to participate before decisions are made. I'm running precisely because I believe the building does not reform itself from within. I'll push to open up committee votes, restore lawmaker autonomy, expand genuine public participation, strengthen ethics enforcement, and require accountability for AI systems used in government decision-making.
