Criminal Justice / Public Safety

Our local first responders deserve the same safety they provide for us. I support giving police officers the tools needed to fight crime, expanding mental health support for our first responders, and establishing safe staffing levels through improved retention and increased recruitment. We should also continue to evaluate training methods and implement evidence-based practices to ensure our first responders have the skills and resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. Economy

As a mom of four, I understand the pressures impacting Minnesota families; from childcare to housing to health care, we need to reduce everyday costs and keep Minnesota an affordable place to raise a family. Cost saving policies could include increasing housing at a range of price points, capping property taxes, implementing a public healthcare option, and expanding access to early childhood education. Small businesses are the foundation of our economy. I support streamlining tax and employment law to help people build their businesses, expanding career and technical training to grow our skilled workforce, and providing robust infrastructure, such as broadband internet, to bolster economic activity. Education

Access to early childhood education is good for children and it’s good for our economy. I will work to ensure every child has access to safe, quality early childhood education programming. Learn more

Job opportunities in the trades are outpacing our training opportunities, causing a shortage of skilled workers. I support bolstering the career and technical education programs in our K-12 schools, as well as partnering with unions and industry organizations to expand education options in the trades. Environment / Energy

We need to continue our transition to 100% clean energy to protect our environment, improve air quality, create new jobs, and reduce utility costs. Expanding our power grid and improving energy storage to better utilize our existing renewable energy resources should be prioritized along with building new clean energy infrastructure. Learn more

I will continue working to ensure that all communities have safe drinking water, and in particular, the ability to address contaminates such as PFAS and manganese. We must also protect our precious waterways from pollution and misappropriation from out-of-state interests. I support the “Prove It First” legislation, which would require copper-sulfide mining companies to demonstrate they can operate without polluting the local environment before they can receive a permit in Minnesota. Guns

I support common sense gun safety legislation that keeps guns out of the hands of those who are a danger to themselves and others, including limiting magazine capacity, banning assault weapons, promoting safe storage, and reporting of lost or stolen firearms. I will also work to improve crisis response resources and access to mental health care, which are critical to reducing gun violence. Learn more

Healthcare

All Minnesotans deserve quality healthcare that is accessible and affordable. I will work to lower out of pocket expenses and prescription drug prices, expand medical assistance, improve insurance coverage, and expand access to mental health support. Learn more

I trust people to make their end-of-life decisions with their doctor – not politicians. I support legislation that allows terminally ill patients to request medical aid in dying. Learn more

Immigration

I’m devastated by the excessive, illegal, and often violent actions we’ve seen from ICE over these past few months, and I strongly oppose their increased presence in Minnesota. I will stand up for our rights and protect the well-being of our community by working with our state agencies to ensure federal law enforcement agents in Minnesota are held accountable for any misconduct or violence, as well as working with our federal elected officials to reduce the number of agents in Minnesota. Infrastructure / Transportation

Every community—regardless of size and economic resources—needs to be able to maintain critical infrastructure such as water treatment, sanitary sewer, safe roads, and broadband internet. As a city council member I know how important it is to have an effective representative at the state level, especially for our smaller communities here in 45A who depend on bonding and other state aid to sustainably fund our critical infrastructure projects. I will advocate for the resources our local communities need to provide quality public service. Learn more

Taxes / Budget

One of the most important roles of a state representative is to advocate for the people of their district and ensure that tax dollars are re-invested in the community. Everyone deserves clean drinking water, a quality education, safe roads, and public safety services—regardless of your zip code. I will collaborate with my colleagues at every level of government to see that our district receives the funding it needs for critical public services. Learn more

Seniors should be able to enjoy their well-earned retirement and stay in their communities. I support ending the state tax on social security, improving property tax caps, making health care more affordable, and other legislation that would help our seniors thrive. Learn more

Complex criminal networks have been exploiting public trust and stealing taxpayer dollars—money meant to feed hungry kids, house vulnerable seniors, and support people with disabilities. While some politicians are using this crisis for political gain, we need to put aside partisan politics to focus on pragmatic solutions to protect public funding. I support implementing better training and modern technology to improve fraud detection, expanding state agency authority to prevent fraud and recover funds, and holding fraudsters accountable by ensuring our justice department has the resources to investigate and prosecute every case.
