Women’s healthcare and abortion access are constitutional and human rights. 55% of our state does not have nearby access to an abortion clinic. I will work in Olympia to increase access particularly in rural communities. When abortion clinics struggle financially the state must subsidize access to protect this constitutional right. The state must work to preserve existing affordable units mostly held by mom-and-pop landlords through property tax reduction. We must boost investments in the Housing Trust Fund, looking at creative opportunities to make those dollars go further. Other ways the State can help: increase funds for down payment assistance, engaging developers and mom-and-pop landlords in policy making, subsidize naturally occurring affordable housing, make financing easier for ADUs, prioritize housing conversion on logical decommissioned public buildings (without hindering our industrial lands) and acquiring more buildings for workforce housing in perpetuity.
