A district attorney is the chief prosecutor for the County. The district attorney leads a staff of prosecutors called assistant district attorneys. District attorneys investigate all crimes in the district except murder, which is handled by the state Attorney General. They decide on whether to prosecute an offender. District attorneys can offer plea deals and conduct grand jury investigations.
