Lincoln launched a School Equity Initiative to level the playing field at our community’s highest need schools—investing $4 million in holistic, evidence-based approaches to secure better educational outcomes for students and more support for families. In every single one of our public schools, he’s prioritizing upgrades for playgrounds, auditoriums and new technology in all of our public schools from Boerum Hill to Brooklyn Heights to Greenpoint. Lincoln released a Climate Action Roadmap to end our dependence on fossil fuels and put our community on a path toward carbon neutrality. He is planting thousands of trees across every available street tree bed in the district, brought the first ever mini-forest to Brooklyn, and has secured millions to add green infrastructure to parks and school playgrounds across the district, including the McCarren Asphalt Lot, American Playground in Greenpoint, and PS 38 in Boerum Hill. He has introduced critical legislation to increase solar panels on residential homes, make composting accessible to all, and strengthen Local Law 97 to ensure the largest buildings in the city reduce their emissions. Lincoln is strengthening protections for tenants, expanding housing supply across our city, and fighting back against private equity firms buying buildings in our community. Lincoln played a critical role in the Council in mobilizing support for City of Yes, which includes 80,000 new units of housing citywide and $5 billion for new affordable housing and infrastructure investments. He has approved thousands of new, truly affordable apartments, banned brokers’ fees, and protected Mitchell-Lama tenants from extreme rent hikes. Learn more
As a new parent and lifelong Brooklynite, Lincoln is fighting for young families to be able to grow and afford to stay here. He has pushed to fully fund 3-K and Pre-K and prevented 60,000 families from losing childcare vouchers this year. He’s delivered better services for seniors, allowing them to age in place with onsite social workers at large developments, free transportation to grocery stores, and well resourced senior centers.
