Get StartedI know that the police department has been trying hard to garner interest in the Crime Watch program to increase public safety, but has not yet been successful in gaining enough active participation from our residents to make a difference. Crime watch groups do wonders for the community by reducing the residents’ risk of being a victim of a crime, teaching residents what to look out for in their neighborhoods, keeping members and residents informed of recent activity, and improves the sense of community among residents. Having an active participation, signs, and public awareness has proven to lower crime in Crime Watch neighborhoods by up to 40%. Learn more

We need to find and utilize grants whenever possible to be proactive in our approach of dealing with our ailing infrastructure and not reactive. While the situation of a tax increase was not ideal, moving forward with the Pine Street project will save the residents in the long run as PennDOT has assumed a sizable amount of the cost to perform the work. It is imperative that we do what we can with what revenue we currently have without relying on tax increases to the current tax base that is already heavily burdened. We need to look into additional revenue sources such as grants and encourage residents to become involved by developing non-profit organizations to provide community services the borough currently is unable to provide funding for.
