Mo will defend the fundamental rights of free speech, free press, and peaceful expression in our schools, workplaces, and communities. Today, the Department of Justice is being misused to target those who dare to challenge Trump and his allies, undermining the rule of law and eroding public trust. Mo will ensure that the Office of Inspector Generals are fully resourced to investigate the many unjust actions under the Trump Administration. My commitment is to restore justice that is blind to politics, protect every person’s right to speak and live freely, and ensure that no one in America is silenced or punished for who they are or what they believe. Education

Mo supports free, universal child care. He advocates for a model already in play in New Mexico, where families pay 0 for licensed center-based and licensed home-based care from birth to kindergarten entry. This approach put thousands of dollars back into household budgets immediately while shortening waitlists for infant and toddler care, providing options for shift workers. Children benefit from consistent, higher-quality learning environments that improve school readiness and long-term outcomes. Universal childcare would only require us to spend 0.5% to 0.7% of GDP annually. We have the opportunity to stabilize jobs in this sector, lower costs for working people, and invest in our future by giving children a stronger start. Learn more

Foreign Policy

The people of Sudan deserve peace, civilian leadership, and justice, not rule by militias or interference from other countries. The RSF is carrying out mass atrocities, and the UAE is making the violence worse. I support putting sanctions on the UAE and ending U.S. Weapons sales to it. Mo also supports a clear plan for Sudan to have a civilian-led government and for those responsible for violence to be held accountable, including the current and past regimes. The war with Iran is wrong, unconstitutional without Congress’s approval, and clearly violates international law. It has already cost American military lives, killed civilians in the region, destabilized countries, and caused long-term economic harm as infrastructure is destroyed and costs go up. Mo is against this war and any escalation. He will work to limit the president’s power to start wars, require congressional approval, and push for immediate diplomacy. Our main goal should be to de-escalate. We need to take steps toward a ceasefire, talk with regional partners, and set clear limits so the U.S. Cannot get pulled into a bigger war without Congress’s approval and a clear plan. Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and the United States should not support this. Mo believes we must stop all U.S. Military aid and weapons transfers until Israel ends its apartheid policies and fully follows international law. There should be no special treatment or exceptions. Russia’s invasion is illegal and brutal, and Ukraine has the right to defend itself. I support continued help that protects civilians and strengthens Ukraine’s defense, along with strong oversight and a diplomatic plan with our allies to end the war in a way that respects Ukraine’s independence and long-term security. Government Reform

Mo supports a full ban of members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children, from buying or selling individual stocks, with clear penalties. Mo is committed to expanding affordable housing through increased tax credits for low-income housing and the development of a preservation fund to leverage underused federal land for mixed-income housing near transit. Learn more

When in Congress, Mo will grow pathways that will give working people real opportunities to buy a home through more down payment help for first-generation buyers and shared-equity models that keep homes affordable over time. He will empower tenants with increased opportunities to buy buildings before they flip to speculators. Mo knows that the ability to buy a first home enables working families to build wealth. Mo will ensure families experience lower rent pressures by limiting predatory housing practices, including tax advantages that reward bulk buying for mega-landlords, and banning shared pricing tools that enable rent collusion and price fixing. Abolishing ICE: ICE was established in 2003 and has spent over 409 billion taxpayer dollars, with no meaningful payoff for Americans. Today, ICE blatantly abuses the law, erodes public trust in our government, and stokes fear in communities across the country. Mo is committed to stopping the separation of families, creating a pathway to citizenship for DACA holders, establishing Temporary Protected Status (TPS) as needed, restoring common sense H-1B visas, and ensuring that farmers and agricultural industries can access H-2A visas critical for their workers and livelihoods. Unions are essential mechanisms for protecting workers’ rights and safety. Strong unions raise wages and benefits for union and non-union workers alike. Mo has pledged to back legislation, including the Pro Act, that makes it easier to organize without retaliation, win a first contract, and grow membership. He advocates for raising the federal minimum wage, paid family leave, and pay equity. He will push for stronger enforcement against wage theft and “junk fees” that claw away wages. Learn more

Protecting federal workers protects the services people rely on—from veterans’ care and air traffic control to disaster response. VA-08 is home to tens of thousands of civil servants and contractors whose work keeps our country safe, healthy, and functioning. Mo will defend the rights of federal workers to fair process, due-process protections, and collective bargaining under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute. “Reductions in force” and politicized exclusions from bargaining don’t make the government better; they make it weaker and more costly in the long run.
